Security and data

How Aula handles your data

Every query is limited to the creator's workspace, students belong to one creator, and each lesson and file request re-checks enrollment. Files are stored privately in Cloudflare R2 behind short-lived signed links, and the database is hosted with Render in the United States. Material sent to Anthropic or OpenAI is used only to produce the draft, answer, feedback or transcript.

What Aula holds

  • Creator account: email address, name, workspace and storefront details, and where you first found Aula.
  • Courses: lesson text, quizzes, uploaded videos and files, and the notes you uploaded for AI drafting.
  • Students: name, email, enrollments, progress, quiz results, practice work and feedback, discussion posts, coaching bookings and AI tutor conversations.
  • Email lists: contacts, whether and when they agreed to marketing emails, and which automated emails they were sent.
  • Affiliates: name, email, link code, clicks, the sales their link brought and recorded payouts.
  • Sales records: amount, fees, date, buyer's email and Stripe's payment reference. Card details are handled by Stripe.

How long it’s kept, and how to export or delete it

Creators can export their data at any time. On request, the workspace, courses, files, student and sales records are deleted within 30 days, and encrypted hosting backups are overwritten within 30 days. Recordings uploaded as course notes are deleted once transcribed. A security log without course content and anonymous aggregate numbers are kept.

The full detail is in Aula’s data export and deletion policy.

Who processes it

Service providers (subprocessors), each on our instructions and only for the purpose shown:

  • Render: hosting, databases and backups, in the United States.
  • Cloudflare: private file storage (R2).
  • Stripe: subscription and license payments (card details go to Stripe, never to us).
  • Resend: sending email.
  • Anthropic: drafting courses and suggesting improvements.
  • OpenAI: transcribing recordings, sorting discussion posts and checking quiz questions.
