What is a course platform's transaction fee?

A transaction fee is the percentage of each sale a course platform keeps for itself, on top of the card processor's fee. A platform that charges 7.5% keeps $11.18 of a $149 course before processing. Some platforms charge none on certain payment methods, and Aula charges 0% on every plan.

Platform fee and processing fee are different

The platform fee goes to the course platform. The processing fee goes to the card network and payment provider, such as Stripe, and applies whichever platform you use. Compare the two separately.

How it adds up

Teachable's Starter plan takes 7.5% of each sale, so a $149 sale carries $11.18 before processing. Kajabi's Basic plan takes nothing on Kajabi Payments or PayPal and 2% on any other payment provider. Prices were checked Oct 28, 2026.

Where Aula fits

Aula takes 0% on every plan. Buyers pay into your own Stripe account, and you pay Stripe's processing fee.

Questions

Does a 0% platform fee mean no fees at all?

No. Stripe's card processing fee still applies on each sale, from 2.9% + 30¢ for US cards. The 0% is Aula's own fee.
